South African beverage company BOS Brands has launched what might be the world’s first Twitter-activated vending machine that trades a can of flavored ice tea for a tweet.

The machine called ‘Bevmax 4-45’ or simply ‘BEV’, will exchange a complementary can of BOS ice tea when users tweet the right hash tag that the machine displays.

Users have to activate their Twitter location settings because BEV will check if the user is actually nearby before giving out the free drink.

After a can of tea has been given out, BEV will enter a ‘cool-down’ period for a few seconds before it is ready to dispense another can.

The machine also features cameras, microphone, trigger switches and sound-activated LEDs.
