If ‘The Wizard Of Oz’ Were Set In China…
We all know that L Frank Baum’s children’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz started out in Kansas.
US-based illustrator Billy Nunez imagined what the story would look like if it were set in a different place, and transported it to China.
In his illustrated version, ‘The Wizard of Oz in China’, Dorothy is a little Chinese girl, Lion is a tiger, Tin Man is a samurai, and Scarecrow is still a scarecrow but looks somewhat different—and as the storyline goes, they seek the same things as the original characters.
What do you think of his interpretation?
