Mattel Creates ‘Architect Barbie’
Mattel has teamed up with American Institute of Architects to create Architect Barbie for young girls, and conduct architecture workshops.
Called ‘Barbie I Can be… Architect’, the doll is dressed in a stylish dress that showcases the city skyline; and comes with a hard hat, carrying case for her latest designs, a model dream house, and black-rimmed architect glasses.
Architect Barbie was created as part of Mattel’s Barbie ‘I Can Be…’ line, to inspire young girls: “’Barbie I Can Be…’ dolls and accessories empower girls to play out different roles and ‘try on’ fabulous careers,” Mattel wrote.
“Capturing the spirit and style of young architects, Barbie I Can Be…Architect showcases a symmetrically stylish outfit featuring the bold colors and clean lines of the city skyline, with essential on-the-job accessories to design her newest Dream House.”
Mattel has also introduced a design competition to designing Barbie’s new Dream House.
The playset costs $18.99 and is available here.
