On Fingernails, a Stop-Motion Animation
By Anthea Quay, 29 Jul 2011
For the launch of Kia’s refurbished Picanto car model, the automaker made a stop-motion animation that’s the size of a finger nail.
Each nail took two hours of drawing to complete. 1,200 bottles of nail polish, 900 faux nails were used in 25 days and nights to create the nail-art animation.
The concept of the stop-motion was in line with the Picanto’s small size. The car models were drawn driving around on the nails, almost completely filling their entire area.
“We didn’t just minimize it, we maximized it in a small space,” goes the ad copy.
