Facebook Offers Hackers a Bounty for Bugs
Facebook will pay hackers who find bugs on its website a bounty of US$500, as long as they are “responsibly disclose[d]”, the social network said.

Hackers are encouraged to report security bugs in apps, third-party websites that integrate with Facebook, and Facebook’s own corporate infrastructure. Other types of bugs, for example spam or “social engineering techniques”, are also on Facebook’s wanted list.

Specifically, Facebook is interested in bugs that “compromise the integrity or privacy of Facebook user data”, it said.

Interested hackers can head on to Facebook’s newly-set up white hat portal to register for the program and report the bugs.

The social network isn’t alone in recruiting hackers to their side. Google and Mozilla have each launched a similar bounty program to considerable success, according to Computer World.
