Collecting Photos of Prostitutes from Google Street View

Mishka Henner went online looking for prostitutes—on Google Street View.

The photographer wanted to document how sex workers in “liminal, post-industrial and rural settings” plied their trade, and used the Google tool to fish out stark images of scantily-clad girls, often alone, in European countrysides.

The images were collected in the eBook No Man’s Land, which Henner said also serves as a reminder of the “margins between urban and rural environments”.
