Björk Trusts Pirates to Distribute ‘Biophilia’

Björk’s album–app Biophilia might only be available on iDevices, but the Icelandic singer is hoping pirates will change that and release the album on other platforms.

“I’m not supposed to say this, probably,” Björk told Drowned in Sound. “But I’m trusting that the pirates out there won’t tie their hands behind their back.”

The singer said she and the app’s designers built Biophilia to be able to be ported easily to other operating systems and devices, especially for people who only have cheaper tech gadgets.

“There are people [in Africa and Indonesia] who have cardboard houses but they have mobile phones,” she said. “Everybody’s texting. It’s just a question of time before touchscreens are cheap.”
