Coffee Tables Made of Recycled Coffee Grounds
In a quest to globally reduce carbon footprints and make things out of recycled waste, UK company, Re-worked, engineered a brand of materials that’s made out of people’s rubbish.
Çurface is 30% used coffee grounds, and 70% High Impact Polysterene. The sheets are waterproof and can be welded together to create table tops, chairs, counter tops and stools.
The material is smooth, but when scratched, the damage can be sandpapered away, the company claims.
A table costs about US$231, and can be bought—along with other furniture—from the website. For the first few weeks, they would smell a bit like coffee.
