The pop-up store trend sweeping through cities will see the largest one yet open in London this October.
Called Boxpark, the mall will be built from 60 shipping containers on a derelict railway yard, and is expected to last five years before being shuttered.
Roger Wade, the creator of the venture, told Wired.co.uk: “The container is the ultimate in industrial design but why not use it in a retail perspective.”
Tenants will include fashion outlets, art galleries and cafés, among others; only brands that are invited—no run-of-the-mill retailers here—will be able to establish a storefront.
“[Boxpark] is a living, fertile community of brands packed with talent, innovation and attitude that puts creativity and fashion back where they belong: on the street,” reads the presskit for the mall.
