Iconic Paintings Come Alive With Augmented-Reality App
Augmented-reality application ‘ARART’ brings iconic paintings—such as Vermeer’s Girl with the Pearl Earring and Van Gogh’s Sunflowers—to life by translating them into real-time virtual animations.
Developed by Japanese artists Kei Shiratori, Takeshi Mukai and Younghyo Bak, the app views images via a pre-configured software and re-creates a scene using augmented reality.
Capable of stimulating a blooming flower and a winking Mona Lisa, it can also rouse a record to spin—a function that can be manipulated on the iPhone touchscreen display.
