‘Birdhouse’ Libraries Pop Up On Street Corners



Community-based, grassroots-initiated micro-libraries have became a trend in many parts of the US—and they are gaining momentum.

These ‘birdhouse’ libraries aim to promote reading and literacy, by encouraging exchanging of books and ideas within the community.

Aesthetically, micro-libraries often acquire local flavor in their appearances—some communities have even invited their artists to give these micro-libraries some serious sprucing up.
