Functional Objects That Look Like Unfinished Sketches
London-based artist and designer Maya Selway has created a cleverly-designed collection of functional home décor items that looks like half-finished line drawings.
The collection consists of a candle-holder, bowls, bottles and vases, with each piece crafted from oxidized copper and weighted carefully so that it will remain upright despite being a mere outline of half an object.
When set against a white background, Selway’s items create an optical illusion of two-dimensionality.
While the bowls and bottles could not hold anything, the candle-holder and vases⎯which comes with a shallow dish at the base⎯actually works.
