A Futuristic ‘Space Pod’ Public Toilet
Public toilets in most cities are not usually the kind of places that people would like to spend much time in, but a new sanitary unit in Gdansk, Poland may be an exception.
Polish architecture firm Schleifer & Milczanowski Architekci has designed and implemented a futuristic, space pod-like public toilet in the historic center of the city.
Standing in stark contrast to its surroundings, the raindrop-shaped structure features elements that are inspired by other landmarks in the city—for instance, its rusted patina resembles the hulls of ships in nearby yards.
Other than looking attractive, its shiny, ribbed façade also serves as a functional bike rack.
