LEGO Model Of New York City, Based On Google Maps’ Satellite Imagery
New York-based artist JR Schmidt has created a topographical model of New York City using colourful LEGO bricks—the beautiful LEGO sculpture is also a pixel-by-pixel representation of satellite imagery from Google Maps.
Featuring a rainbow of bright colors, the artist used color-coded satellite images to set the elevation and color of the bricks before he started constructing the model.
This gorgeous piece of tactile artwork has been made into framed prints, stationery cards, iPhone cases and skins—they are available for purchase over here.
Check out the artist’s portfolio for more of his stunning work.
