Designer Creates Real-Life ‘Pixar Lamp’ That Won’t Let You Switch It Off
Shanshan Zhou, Adam Ben-Dror and Joss Doggett have created a lamp that redefines the humble desk lamp.
Called the ‘Pinokio Lamp’, the robotic lamp interacts with its environment and people—though it doesn’t really shine any light, nor hop around.
Like the fictional puppet it was named after ‘Pinocchio’, the interactive lamp comes alive—it can look around, follow your face, respond to sounds, and express a range of behaviors.
It even seeks for attention, and flips its switch back on when you try to turn it off.
Pinokio was made with Processing, Arduino, OpenCV, and a webcam.
