Facebook Users Go To The Polls On Privacy Policy Changes & Right To Vote

After announcing some controversial changes to its privacy policy last month, Facebook has opened up the polls and invited its users to vote on the issue.

Following a surge of comments voicing concerns over the company’s proposed policy updates, Facebook has decided to go the democratic way and set up the 'Facebook Governance Vote' app.

In addition to the proposed changes to the privacy policy—which will allow the social media site to share data with affiliated business—Facebook is also looking to eliminate the 4-year-old system that allows users to vote on changes to its governance policies.

30% of Facebook’s one billion users will have to participate in the vote for the results to be binding—if the participation rate falls short, the results will be taken under advisement.

Voting opened yesterday (3 December 2012) and will end on 10 December 2012 at 12PM (PST).
