Furniture Made Of Shredded Magazines
By Dorothy Tan, 11 Dec 2012
Italian designer Jens Praet has collaborated with Elle Décor to create a range of furniture—aptly named “Shredded”—made out of shredded magazines.
Consisting of a table, a bench, a bookcase and a low table, the pieces are formed using clear resin and placed in molds—hardening to a wood-like solidity.
A great way to up-cycle wastepaper that are headed for the landfills, these paper furniture are surprisingly strong and sturdy—some of them can even support the weight of an adult.
Proving the versatility of paper as a raw material, perhaps this concept can be applied to existing designs, thus creating greener furniture.
