Bulletproof Disney Princess, ‘Avengers’ Backpacks For Kids?
Salt Lake City-based lightweight armor company Amendment II—that usually manufactures for law enforcement and military use—started producing a new range of children-friendly bulletproof backpacks for kids six months ago.
Made of the company’s signature carbon nanotube armor, the backpacks feature cartoon characters like the Disney princesses and ‘Avengers’ superheroes.
Designed to keep children safe in the event of school shootings, the line’s introduction proved to be timely—a company representative told Mother Jones that sales volume for these protective backpacks have tripled in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.
Do you think this is an opportunistic business move or a genuine attempt to protect children from violence?
