Surreal Images of Gravity-Defying, Floating Advertising Logos
By Dorothy Tan, 26 Dec 2012
Chicago-based artist Mark Siber has created a series of surreal images featuring gravity-defying advertising logos of famous international brands.
Shot in various parts of the U.S.A and Europe, these pictures are inspired by the very tall advertising signage in mid-western America—by eliminating their support structure digitally, the artist endow them with an otherworldly quality.
“References can be drawn to religious iconography, the supernatural, popular notions of extraterrestrials, or science fiction films such as Blade Runner. Each of these references refer to something that can profoundly affect our lives yet is just beyond our control and comprehension.”
Intriguingly, he has also included pictures of the American flag and a sign that says "Jesus" in this "Floating Logos" series--perhaps, he is implying that country and religion can be considered to be brands as well?
Head over to the artist’s website for more curious images of floating logos.
