An Alarm Clock That Delivers Electric Shocks To Wake A Person Up
By John Yong, 16 Jan 2013
Most people have difficulty getting out of bed in the morning.
India-based designer Sankalp Sinha hopes to change that with his ‘singNshock Alarm Clock’—a device that uses electric shocks to wake a person up.
The clock has an aluminum-coated off switch that delivers an “electric shock pulse of a few milli-volts” when pushed—triggering neurological functions; in other words, shocking a person into consciousness.
It also features a music player that allows users to wake up to their favorite music—however, when that doesn’t work, its ‘shocking personality’ comes into play.
“The idea came to me in 2008 when I woke up late every morning and I wanted to change that,” said Sinha. “Then I thought what if we had an optional shock feature in the clock which would serve the purpose of changing that habit.”
“I am getting a great response from the community as many people are tweeting and Facebooking about it”, Sinha added. “They are talking about how this product can change their lives by changing their waking habits.”
The singNshock Alarm Clock is currently not in production yet, but Sinha is looking for a manufacturer to produce it.
