Shepard Fairey Designs Mission Patch For Space Station

Renowned American contemporary designer and street artist Shepard Fairey has designed a new mission patch for the International Space Station (ISS).

Astronauts will wear Fairey’s new patch during the inaugural sponsored flight of the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS), which is scheduled to run from September 2013 to March 2014.

“It’s a really special thing,” said Fairey. “I’m just flattered and honored that I could create something that becomes just a small symbol of how things can move forward.”

“The excitement of the unknown. To be part of that, is really a cool thing.”

In the video below, Fairey shares his thoughts behind the badge design.
