Raw, Honest Close-Up Portraits Of 100-Year-Olds
Jahrhundertmensch is the title of a photo series by German photographer Karsten Thormaehlen, which gets you up-close and personal with people who have reached the grand age of 100.
The photographs are all taken at close range, and skillfully reveal the honest ‘rawness’ that each wizened face holds.
Also known as ‘centenarians,’ there are only about 455,000 people of age 100 and above in the whole world, according to a United Nations (UN) 2009 report.
