Daredevil Photographer Kayaks By A Volcano To Shoot Molten Lava Up Close
Brazil-based photographer Alexandre Socci, along with kayakers Pedro Oliva, Ben Stookesberry and Chris Korbulic, have photographed daring close-distance images of molten lava streaming down an active volcano in south-central Hawaii.
Recounting that day, Socci says that the water was about 90 degrees Celsius and the lava particles floating around could burn anything in seconds. After the expedition, the kayaks emerged from the water with burn marks from the floating lava.
The stunning images may have captured a very raw moment in nature, but Socci hopes that the people who see these images will not attempt to do the same, as it is not safe at all to paddle this close to lava.
