Artist Imagines What New York City Would Look Like If It Were North Korea
USA-based researcher and Photoshop whizz Nickolay Lamm has some new work that imagines how New York City would look like if it were North Korea.
Taking inspiration from Barbara Demick, author of ’Nothing To Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea’—who describes Pyongyang as a place where “no artificial lighting competes with the intensity of the stars”—Lamm's digitally manipulated photos of North Korea in the shell of New York City is a stark contrast with the glittering lights and allure of the Big Apple.
Lamm's version created with Photoshop has the city with way less lights, advertising banners and billboards. Instead, Times Square is decorated with nationalistic propaganda posters.
