Charming Illustrations Of Old Grocery Stores Reveal Elements In Vintage Design

Flickr user Allen has posted a series of rendered drawings of old-fashioned grocery stores and their signages.

Whether these stores actually existed or if these designs were used remains unknown.

On his profile, Allen cites himself as a freelance photographer and hobbyist who enjoys all things vintage. According to him, he enjoys “photographing old neon signs, cars, motels, gas stations, roadside attractions and suburban life”.

We may not know the origin or intended purpose of these images—but the vintage artwork in rendering, typography used on signages, and the art deco influence in the architecture of these stores—can be enjoyed by all.
