Dove Encourages Camera-Shy Women To Think They’re Beautiful
Dove is known for commercials which address the body-image issues that women have, and ‘Hide and Seek’ is no different.
Produced by the Ogilvy Group UK, the first half of the commercial shows many women hiding away from cameras in various ways.
Towards the end of the commercial, however, it focuses on young girls prancing and looking at cameras and mirrors, ending with the tagline, “When did you stop thinking you’re beautiful?”
This thought-provoking ad shows that many girls grow up to be self-conscious and critical of their appearances, encouraging them to love their body and themselves.
What do you think—is this an effective, body-positive message?
