Hear Jewelry Sing: The Sound Of Hermès Silver
By Anthea Quay, 15 Jul 2013
French luxury brand Hermès has teamed up with London-based design practice United Visual Artists and French agency Dan Paris to make jewelry ‘sing’.
In the installation ‘The Sound of Hermès Silver’, each of Pierre Hardy’s 16 creations—the Chaîne d’ancre, Initale, Parade, Osmose and Etcaetera, to name a few—get placed on rotating metallic turntables.
When laser strikes and ‘scans’ over each ornamental piece, a unique ambient sound is created—with the differing volumes and ‘voices’ of each depending on the physical dimensions of the piece: its shape, density, volume and weight.
Though each jewelry piece’s musical expression is unique, when joined together they create a beautiful symphony.
