World’s Largest ‘Star Wars’ Memorabilia Collection Of 300,000 Unique Items

The Star Wars films have achieved a revered cult status in popular culture that very few other movie franchises can boast of—many of its fans have also become collectors of its coveted memorabilia.

Steve Sansweet, the president of Rancho Obi-Wan, a non-profit Star Wars museum in Northern California, is definitely in a league of his own with about 300,000 unique items—he is the current holder of the Guinness World Record for “Largest Collection of Star Wars Memorabilia”.

Only 90,546 items from this immense collection have been properly cataloged and its owner estimates that it will take years to complete the audition of his ever-growing collection.

Having worked for Lucasfilm Ltd, first as director of Specialty Marketing then as Director of Content Management and head of Fan Relations, for more than 15 years, Sansweet is now retired—however, he continues to be active in the Star Wars fan community.
