Turning Gunfire Into Music: An Orchestra Created Out Of Decommissioned Weapons
‘Disarm’ is a collaborative project between artist Pedro Reyes, Mexico City media studio Cocolab and a group of musicians. They take decommissioned weapons and turn them into musical instruments.
The instruments which were fashioned out of rifles, pistols, and shotguns seized from drug cartels, come with pre-programed compositions and are controlled through computers.
Reyes said he wanted to “transform negative instincts into creative instincts” by turning weapons of death into machines that play music.
