The New Dutch Euro Coins For 2014 Feature A ‘Questionable’ Typeface

The new Dutch Euro coins have been unveiled, with King Willem-Alexander adorning the face of the coin.

Created by Erwin Olaf, the text embedded on the coin is rendered in a font called “Days”, which was designed by Ivan Gladkikh and Alexandr Kalachëv.

The website, Fontsinuse.com calls the font choice “highly questionable”, but reports that the Dutch Ministry of Finance had stated that it was “not possible to find a good domestic design” and that they did not want to make a more aesthetically pleasing font as it would require money.

What do you think—is this design fine the way it is, or could it have used some improvements?
