Branding Company’s Controversial Project Lets Customers Pay What They Want
By Thia Shi Min, 06 Dec 2013
Polish branding company 8k has embarked on a controversial project called “Pay What You Want” to address the difficulties ad agencies face when it comes to pricing their work.
As the name suggests, clients pay what they want for the work done—this includes letterheads, logos, business cards, and the likes.
Although it seems like the agency is at a disadvantage, clients have to pay at least US$1 and the creative team also reserves the right to turn down projects.
The agency has completed 23 assignments, and the five-person team has done work for Poligrafiko, Impools, and 7 Starz in England, making US$74 on average.
Admitting that they took a risk, Marek Bartosinski stated that they were doing a case study, believing that this project would help drum up some publicity for the firm.
Judging from two of their projects below, do you think they were underpaid?
