Haunting Landscape Photos Of Middle Europe Inspired By The Brothers Grimm
By John Yong, 03 Jan 2014
German landscape photographer Kilian Schönberger has captured a stunning series of landscape photos inspired by his homeland and fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm.
Aptly titled ‘Brothers Grimm’s Homeland’, his images were shot in remote rural areas of Middle Europe, and they evoke a sense of loneliness, mystery and despair.
From the gnarled forests to the eerie white fog, his images are the perfect backdrop for a dark fairy tale from The Brothers Grimm.
What’s truly impressive is the fact that he’s actually colorblind. Before his photos are printed, he normally gets a friend to check the colors of the image.
He told My Modern Met, “I don’t have to separate singular colors visually and can totally concentrate on the structure for a convincing image composition.”
