Paris’ Abandoned Metro Stations May Be Turned Into Pools, Resturants & More
By Dorothy Tan, 06 Feb 2014
A mayoral candidate for Paris, French politician Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet—or NKM to her supporters—has just released a series of concept sketches that reimagines Paris’ abandoned subway stations as exciting entertainment and leisure venues.
Known as “ghost stations” in Paris, these unused Metro stations have a lot of potential to be converted into functional spaces, such as swimming pools, auditoriums and nightclubs.
Designed by Manal Rachdi and architectural planner Nicolas Laisné, these hypothetical projects would allow Parisians to reclaim these abandoned public spaces and enhance urban life.
If elected, NKM plans to launch a “co-creation” platform that would allow the public to submit their ideas about how these ghost stations should be used.
What other uses can you think of for these abandoned subway stations?
