In England, There Are Plans To Turn A Street Into A Giant Waterslide
What the water slide may look like if this idea is realized.
Based in Bristol, 39-year-old artist Luke Jerram would like to transform Park Street into a water slide.
The Park And Slide Project is currently underway, and Jerram is trying to raise UK£5,621 from crowdfunding in order to turn his dream into reality. The slide will be 90-meters high, towering above the city.
Inspiration struck Jerram when he was in his office, which was situated along the street. He started wondering what it would be like to have a water slide out there, and soon, conceived this project.
“It's all about looking at the city in a new way. I'm interested in thinking of Bristol as a canvas for architectural intervention. This is our city and it's up to us to think about how we want it to be in the future,” he stated.
The artist also remarked that he is interested in pleasurable and practical ways of transportation. As Bristol is very hilly, it would be an ideal place for this slide.
If everything goes according to plan, this slide will be set up on 4 May 2014.
What do you think—wouldn’t this slide make the city more fun?
