Inspiring Short On Art & Technology Featuring Frank Gehry, Other Creative Minds
Global multi-disciplinary cultural organization Liberatum have followed up their previous video on creativity with ‘Artistry/Technology’, a new short that gives an insight into the minds of great creatives the world over.
Co-directed by Liberatum founder Pablo Ganguli and creative director Tomas Auksas, it features some of the world’s leading cultural figures such as director Francis Ford Coppola and architect Frank Gehry.
The thirteen-and-a-half-minute film delves into their thoughts on the relationship between art and technology, and how both have impacted each other in recent years.
“The first technology is brushes, pencils, pens. Things like that, the technology that you draw with. Technology always alters pictures,” says painter David Hockney.
“Technology has completely transformed the way we live our lives... Creative people are increasingly using technology to produce their art but can they still excel without it or are they completely attached and dependent on it?,” Ganguli muses.
Other notable personalities in the film include actress Susan Sarandon, directors Miranda July and Brett Ratner, rapper MIA, and artist Ed Ruscha.
Presented by Swire Properties, the documentary premiered last month at Art Basel.
