Heartbreaking Photos Of A Man & His Plastic Doll Daughter
By Valerie Chang, 07 May 2015
Chinese 3D game designer Song Bo was diagnosed with a serious form of brain cyst, which causes frequent splitting headaches. When his condition intensified, bringing about other health problems, he was convinced he would never have a family of his own.
However, he chanced upon newfound hope in the form of a NT$70,000 (~US$2,300) lifelike child-sized doll sold on an online site.
Naming his 145cm tall purchase ‘Xiao Die’, he treats her like a daughter, bringing her everywhere he goes.
Song takes her on outings, train rides, movie sessions and café trips. Occasionally, he would upload photos of their father-daughter bonding sessions to Chinese social networking site Weibo.
While the unusual pair has been drawing stares and attention from others, there’s no denying Xiao Die has given him a new form of motivation and optimism in life.
