Video Breaks Down Why Better CGI Doesn’t Mean A Better Movie

This video provides an explanation to why special effects and fancy CGI might have made movies less enjoyable.

Created by StoryBrain, the video shows that despite how technology improved CGI, our brains started interpreted it negatively because it made movie scenes feel phony.

According to the video, computer effects used to be limited to the surface aspect of a single object in a scene. It was only in 2004 when CGI could be combined with a fully digitally rendered scene, making it seamless. This is evident in Peter Jackson’s remake of King Kong in 2005, using his company WETA Digital.
