A Secret Agent Game Inspired By Wes Anderson’s ‘Grand Budapest Hotel’
By Yap Yen, 07 Jul 2015
If famous filmmaker Wes Anderson were to create a video game, this might be it.
Introducing Maquisard, a 2D game based loosely on Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. Created by students at New York University’s Game Center, the game’s objective is to find a secret government agent hiding in the hotel.
As a player, you are introduced to the hotel as the lobby boy and you can view all the action at once or zoom in to see a single room. As you play you will notice that the design is in classic Wes Anderson style, from the color palette to the use of an Iris Wipe transition from one scene to the next.
Watch the video below to see how the game works. The game is available for download for free on Mac and PC here.
