NYC’s First Micro-Apartments Span 250 To 370 Square Feet, As Low As $950 A Month
By Yoon Sann Wong, 03 Nov 2015
New York City is known for its high real estate prices, so it comes as no surprise that the upcoming ‘My Micro NY’ has been met with much excitement.
Announced back in 2013, the modular building is designed by nARCHITECTS and comprises 55 studio apartments ranging from 250 to 370 square feet. The most affordable units were said to be going at a rental price of US$950 per month, depending on the resident’s income.
The US$17 million development is a pilot project initiated by Mayor Bloomberg’s administration, in conjunction with the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development.
If successful, more of such affordable housing may be implemented across the city.
‘My Micro NY’ is located at 335 E 27th Street in Kips Bay, Manhattan, New York.

Other features on micro-apartments include: a man’s life in his tiny 100-square-foot NYC apartment and a designer’s 13-square-meter space.
