The long feature list of the BenQ-Siemens SL91 is kicked off with a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera for photos and a VGA resolution unit for video conferencing - the latter hidden above the 1 key on the lower portion of the handset. Similar to the LG 'Chocolate' line of sliders, the BenQ-Siemens SL91 features touch-sensitive navigation keys, which the manufacturer calls Force Sensitive Resistor (FSR) technology. Unlike LG's effort, the SL91 does not react to heat, but instead to slight pressure on the handset's surface. BenQ-Siemens has included a large, 2" QVGA resolution main display, showing a full range of 16.7 million colors. UMTS connectivity is supported, and microSD cards help with storage of photos from the camera and music for the MP3 player, among other things.
Included in the retail package is a multi-function 'shell' for the SL91, which is in essence a designer docking station. The shell features lighting effects to notify of incoming messages or missed calls, or to just become an eye-catching display. The shell can charge and synchronize the BenQ-Siemens SL91 with a compatible PC, as well as act as a mini HiFi and hands-free system for the handset.
The beautiful BenQ-Siemens SL91 will be available in Europe in November this year, though pricing information has not yet been announced.
