Colors are used in branding not just to be “trendy”, but specifically to entice, inspire and engage consumers.
Creative consultancy FranklinTill Studio has outlined four key color trends for 2016, providing some insights about how these will affect design.
Soft ombres and warm tones used for color healing.
As consumers increasingly focus on healthy lifestyles and mental wellbeing, warm and soft tones will take reign in creating a sense of relaxation and escape. Soothing warm oranges can be used to counteract the energizing blue of overly-consumed digital interfaces.
“Industrial pastels” used to create soft, gender-neutral tones.
With increasing support for gender neutrality and equality, pink becomes the new “neutral”, and soft pastel tones take on industrial qualities. Shades like mint green and powder pink will appear in greater quantities, with their “sweet” nature neutralized by sharp accents of bright yellow, grey or blue-black.
