Why Do We Close Our Eyes Every Time We Kiss Our Partner, According To Science
By Melissa Goh, 24 Mar 2016

Every wondered why do we close our eyes when we kiss? Is it just done out of formality?
A new study published by Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, found the scientific reason for closing our eyes when kissing.
“The brain can better appreciate physical stimulation when it’s not splitting its efforts with visual stimulation.”
Psychologist Polly Dalton and Sandra Murphy, studied a group of participants performing a visual task by searching a letter, and then measuring their responses to a tactile stimulation by vibration. The vibration was felt much lower while they were performing the visual task, as compared to when they had their eyes closed.
With this finding, closing our eyes when kissing shuts out visual distractions so that we can attempt to feel the intensity of the intimacy and enjoy the experience.
