The Clichéd, Bullsh*t Advice That You Should Ignore In 2017
By Dorothy Tan, 05 Jan 2017

At the start of a brand new year, there is always that temptation to believe that it will be much better than the last one if only we actively try to improve our lives—and there will be no lack of people who think that they know how you can do that.
Author Sarah Knight recently wrote an article where she lists down seven pieces of bullshit advice that you should stop taking in 2017—you would probably have heard some of them too many times.
“Get out of your comfort zone.”
Many of these these tips have to do with changing your mindset—for instance, perhaps you are unhappy because you are not thinking positively or that you are not looking at the big picture.
However, Knight argues in her witty, too-honest way that negative thoughts have the power to compel you to act, while attacking problems in “small, manageable chunks” is more efficient than getting overwhelmed by them.
“Failure is not an option.”
Other pieces of advice that you show toss into the thrash can include how you should follow your instinct and not put off things that can be done today to tomorrow—according to the humorous writer, these are recipes for disasters, bad decisions and an unproductive workflow.
