NSFW: Raw, Nude Portraits Taken In Models’ Own Homes By Complete Strangers

Imagine sitting comfortably in your home one day when a stranger rings your doorbell. The visitor’s armed with a digital camera and requests to capture your portrait–in the nude.

That’s essentially what happened in the photo series ‘Daily Portrait Berlin’, which has been transformed into a photo book comprising 381 NSFW raw visuals of Berliners, captured in their own homes by outsiders.

Over the course of 18 months, one digital camera made its way around the city, being passed from hand to hand, connecting strangers through this art project.

The series’ website writes, “Daily Portrait IV Berlin 2015-2017: A project by Martin Gabriel Pavel and Marek Kučera. One camera and 381 Berliners. I photographed Elle in her apartment. I gave her my camera and she took a photo of M in her apartment next day. M photographed Jonathan and Jonathan photographed Carise and Carise photographed Christoph and Christoph photographed Joanna and Joanna photographed Terka and Terka photographed Stephan...until 381 photos were made. David photographed me as the last one and I’ve got the camera back.”

A fundraising campaign has been started on Indiegogo to bring Daily Portrait Berlin into production. The book aims to challenge today’s beauty norms, particularly those molded through advertising and film.

“With Daily Portrait Berlin, we want to show people in an authentic way, while at the same time encouraging real-life connections and interactions–away from social media and the digital world–and create a community where people in Berlin can meet without prejudice and fear and be who they are, without censorship and predefined attitudes.”

“DP Berlin is a tool to get to know people, let go of their fears, challenge themselves, have a new life experience, and basically strip in front of a stranger.”
