London-Based Studio Teams Up With Coca-Cola To Create Creative Bottle Cap Emojis
By Izza Sofia, 17 Apr 2017
The three founders of London-based studio Koto—James Greenfield, Caroline Matthews and Jowey Roden—spoke to It’s Nice That about their recent collaboration with Coca Cola and the emojis they have designed for the brand.
According to the website, Coca Cola wanted functional emojis that were simple and engaging. A designer that they worked together with online happened to be working for Coca Cola and approach them to pitch ideas for this project.
Combining key branding elements of Coca-Cola, from its color to the ribbon and logotype, and the visual conception of an emoji, they created 38 final emojis that feature the iconic Coke cap bottle.
They mentioned that it is easier to design for smaller markets as compared to bigger ones due to the added pressure from millions of customers. The key issue that they faced was making the emojis recognisable as they are specifically made for Coke instead of just turning the usual emoji’s red.
