Adidas Apologizes For Email Congratulating 2017 Boston Marathon ‘Survivors’
By Izza Sofia, 21 Apr 2017
According to Buzzfeed, Adidas sent an email that reads, “Congrats, you survived the Boston Marathon!”, to 2017 Boston Marathon finishers on Tuesday.
Some finishers of the race have taken issue with this congratulatory email sent by Adidas, the sponsor for the annual race.
The message was met with backlash, given the recent history of the race. Some finishers questioned how Adidas did not realize the connotations of the message after three people were killed and almost 300 were injured in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.
Some finishers took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the email. Adidas has apologized for its insensitive email subject line.
