Last month, British Airway’s parent company International Airlines Group (IAG) debuted its low-cost, long haul airline called Level. The new carrier’s branding, done by Brand Union, takes on a minimalistic aesthetic that involves geometric forms, sans serif type and a two-color palette.
In an exclusive interview with It’s Nice That, Brand Union’s Executive Creative Director Paul Cardwell explained more about the company’s branding and logo.
“Our design director Mark Smith came up with the ultimate minimalist statement about flight. The logomark is a bisected square with blue above green: here is the sky and here, below, the land.”
From there, Brand Union’s Creative Director Marta Swannie developed a visual language of versatile graphic configurations that can be applied on anything from apps to coffee cups.
