You Can Now Hack IKEA’s Kitchen Cabinets With Plywood For A Customized Look
By Izza Sofia, 16 May 2017
Startup company Plykea has launched a series of birch ply doors and worktops that can be attached to IKEA's METOD kitchen cupboards.
The company was set up by design director Tim Diacon. Together with Adam Vergette—furniture designer and former head of production at furniture brand Vitsoe—Plykea manufacture fronts and worktops that would seamlessly fit IKEA's base cabinets.
For those who want their IKEA cabinets to look more unique, Plykea creates wooden fronts that would fit perfectly on the original fittings, and are designed to appeal to those working with a limited budget.
Plykea offers doors in both wood and formica-faced ply, as well as wooden spacer panels that can be placed between cupboards. A range of handles are also available, including brass pulls as well as cut-outs in round or rectangular shapes.
