Tattoo Artist Pushes Design Boundaries With His Abstract, Conceptual Creations
By Izza Sofia, 09 Jun 2017
Based in France, Olivier Poinsignon is a creative tattoo artist and illustrator.
His tattoo experiments are connecting tattooing with contemporary art as well as humans. His abstract, dark designs portray the chaotic and unruly nature of art itself. With each piece of work seemingly wilder than the last, he aims to create pieces that are philosophical about tattooing.
Poinsignon refers to his tattoo style as “broken hand”, which describes the rough, messy appearance of his tattoos. His work also involves geometry and bold lines.
Pushing the limits of art and tattoos, he works with his clients in a unique way. He explore new forms of creativity and is able to design a tattoo without verbal communication with his clients.
“I want to extend my field of conscience. I’m trying to explore and find artistic alternatives. To widen and nuance the definitions of art, to question the communication and subjectivity of beauty”, he explained.
“I wish to reveal the creative potential of people I’m working with, both clients and colleagues. It is a way to enjoy connections, but also divergences, which is often more rewarding”, he added.
