Twitter Unveils ‘Lighter, Faster, Easier-To-Use’ Redesign With New Features
By Kylie Woon, 16 Jun 2017
A big announcement just dropped on the Twitter Blog. Twitter has had a facelift, and over the next few days, the social networking service will be rolling out the new look on iOS, Android, Tweet Deck and Twitter Lite.
Some of the redesigned elements include rounded profile photos à la Instagram and Snapchat. (This month, Skype also added a few new Snapchat-esque features).
Cosmetic changes were also applied to streamline the Twitter experience: refined typography, bolder headlines, and a new side navigation menu have been added to declutter the app. The pesky reply icon, often mistaken to be a delete or go back icon, will also be replaced by a more recognizable speech bubble icon.
Likes, replies and retweets will also pop up in real-time now, making user interaction more instantaneous.
These updates aim at a cleaner, more fluid experience, but the Twitterverse is having mixed reactions.
